First of all we would like to announce our new social skills instructor, Ms. Kelly Forrest!

Once a week, Kelly will be helping our kiddos improve their reciprocal speech, conversations, impulsivity, turn taking, inside voice usage, emotional control and so much more using naturalistic teaching strategies! She will also incorporate an interactive brief story time, where she will focus on improving their theory of mind.

Her class will not only teach skills of the mind but also give exposure to the many great different sensory activities and sensory equipment We Rock the Spectrum has to offer!

  • Trampoline – To help gain body control, and overall gross motor skills.
  • Blocks & kitchen area – To increase imaginary play.
  • Specialized swings – To give comfort and allow them to regulate their bodies using deep pressure to produce serotonin and endorphins.

Kelly started working with special needs children at a very young age and has always loved how fulfilling the work feels. With a strong research background with children on the spectrum and her experiences with working at We Rock the Spectrum, Kelly is fully prepared and ready to ROCK!

Kelly is a graduate from California State University Northridge with her Bachelors in Child and Adolescent Development; however, she is currently pursuing her Masters at CSUN in School Psychology!

This class is ideal for kids ages 5-12 but ALL kids are welcome. Ms. Kelly will be leading the class but other staff members will also be on hand to assist and guide the kids.
