September 1st, 2026 marks a very special milestone: We Rock The Spectrum celebrates its 16th anniversary. For 16 years, we have created inclusive spaces where children of all abilities can play, grow, and thrive.

Where it all began

What began as one mother’s desire to create a better experience for her children became something much bigger. Over time, that vision has touched the lives of countless families around the world.

The story of We Rock The Spectrum begins with Dina Kimmel and her family.

As a mother to Gabriel and Sophia, Dina saw the challenges many families face. When Gabriel needed additional sensory support, Dina looked for ways to help him. She wanted to give him opportunities to develop, explore, and engage with the world around him.

At the time, finding sensory-friendly environments and equipment designed to support children like Gabriel was not always easy, and many of the resources available were costly or difficult for families to access. Wanting to create more opportunities for her son, Dina brought sensory equipment into their home.

What happened next helped inspire something much bigger.

A vision takes shape

Dina noticed that Gabriel and his sister Sophia both enjoyed the sensory equipment. What started as a way to support Gabriel became a place where both of her children could play, learn, and connect. It showed Dina something powerful. When children have the right environment, they can explore, learn, and connect through play.

From that realization came a vision: a place where children of all abilities could come together, where families could feel welcomed, and where no child would ever feel like they didn’t belong.

That vision became We Rock The Spectrum.

In 2010, Dina opened the first We Rock The Spectrum Kid’s Gym in Tarzana, California. From the very beginning, the mission was clear: to provide a safe, inclusive environment where children could be themselves and experience the joy, confidence, and connection that comes from play.

At the heart of our mission is a phrase that continues to define We Rock The Spectrum today: “Finally a place where you never have to say I’m sorry!®” It reflects our belief that every family deserves a place where their child feels welcome exactly as they are.

Growing the mission

Over the past 16 years, We Rock The Spectrum has continued to grow while staying true to the purpose that started it all. What began as one gym has expanded into a community of locations across the country and around the world, bringing inclusive play opportunities to more children and families every day.

While our locations, programs, and services have grown, the heart of We Rock The Spectrum has remained the same.

We see it in the child who gains confidence while trying something new. Families finally find a place where they feel welcomed and understood. Children create friendships through shared experiences. Most importantly, our owners, teams, and communities continue bringing our mission to life.

Every smile, every milestone, and every moment of connection has helped shape the story of We Rock The Spectrum.
